This cap is a reconstructed version of a newsboy cap from the early 1900s, discovered in the warehouse of an antique dealer in New Jersey. While originally worn by newspaper boys, it was a common accessory for working-class men of the time, regardless of profession. The cap was in no condition to be worn when found, but it carried a strong sense of history. It has been sharply restructured in silhouette and volume, using a recreated "salt and pepper" striped fabric inspired by 1940s French vintage work jackets. The fabric, dyed with sulfur-based pigments, has been treated to achieve a dry, aged texture, with additional washing to enhance the seams and wrinkles, evoking the passage of time.
