We embark on a new chapter of our “In-Motion” collaboration with Western Sydney Artist, Gerard Cabellon, otherwise known as Kid Tek in the street dance scene.

Kid Tek (@tekthekid) was born and raised in Western Sydney (Doonside, Blacktown, Parramatta), though his background is Filipino. Kid Tek specialises in breaking (breakdancing) and has been doing so for over 10 years. He represents crews Flowtality and Zealous in jams and competitions around Australia and the world. He is also a dance teacher and business owner that is dedicated to growing a positive perception of street dance in Australia.

Fashion and breaking go hand in hand. Kid Tek believes that street dancers maximise the form and function of each garment they wear. The shapes and silhouettes that dancers create bring clothing to life, while the clothing we wear allow us to stand out in the circles we occupy. There’s a beautiful exchange that takes place between a dancer and their clothing.

Gerard is also one of the owners of Common House, which is a creative studio space located in Glendenning.

Captured below, Kid Tek wears garments from MAILLOT which include Lazy Overshirt and Premium Nomadic from Merely Made, paired with footwear from Reproduction Of Found.

Captured below, Kid Tek wears garments from MAILLOT; Vintage Quilted Cap from Sillage, Big Work All In One from BEAMS BOY and Bandana Basque Border T from CAL O LINE.
